NORTH FORSYTH — Jeff Bucchino has always loved art, acting and films. This month, he has the opportunity to combine the passions as an actor and storyboard artist for the movie “Test Group,” the first of a trilogy of zombie films that will be released next year. Bucchino, who lives in Buford, grew up in Cumming and graduated from North Forsyth High School. Before he began working on the storyboard for “Test Group,” he would create his own comic books and had always liked that style of artwork.“When I was younger and had my own ideas for movies and things like that, just for fun I would always draw little comic books,” he said. “A storyboard isn’t that dissimilar from a comic book.” So when he saw an online advertisement asking for horror and science fiction artwork for a magazine, he applied. That connection led to an offer to create the storyboard for “Test Group” and act as a police officer in the film. Bucchino said the movie, which tells the story of a zombie apocalypse, portrays zombies in an unconventional way, although he couldn’t release details due to a confidentiality agreement.“The vision [director Keith Bailey] has for the zombies in our film is just a slightly different take … than what people are used to seeing,” he said. Bucchino’s wife, Amy, is an assistant to one of the co-producers, Albert Roberts, as well as a spokeswoman for the movie.“It’s going to be about a pharmaceutical-type company that does something to turn people into zombies,” she said. Amy Bucchino said “Test Group” likely will be released in more 900 theaters next September, with international distribution to follow. The film, which is being produced by Other Blood Entertainment, has shot in Mableton and Hampton. The production company is scouting future locations in Forsyth and Gwinnett counties.
