The Region 6-AAAAAA basketball tournament doesn't begin until Tuesday, but it's already clear that at least two teams from Forsyth County schools will advance to the Class 6A state playoffs. North Forsyth's girls (No. 2 seed, 21-4) meet West Forsyth (8-16) in the opening round of the tournament at 7 p.m. Tuesday night at Alpharetta High School, with the winner locking up one of four available state playoff spots. North defeated West by an average of 12 points in two meetings this season. Both teams reached the Class 5A state playoffs last season.The winner of Wednesday's game between Lambert's boys (16-9) and South Forsyth, set for 5:30 p.m., will also be rewarded with a spot in the postseason. The Longhorns won both rivalry meetings this season by comfortable margins (73-46, 60-47), but will need to beat the War Eagles a third time to secure the program's first state tournament berth. South last reached the state playoffs during the 2007-08 season.
