PREP ROUNDUP: Forsyth Central baseball wins fifth straight

BASEBALL Forsyth Central 4, Riverwood 3 ATLANTA – Logan Howard struck out nine over 6 2/3 innings and the Bulldogs got an eight-inning Region 7-AAAAA, Div. B victory Wednesday on the road. Parker Morrison picked up the win for Central (8-4, 7-1) which extended its winning streak to five games. Hunter Bauman and Parker Biederer each had two hits for the Bulldogs. Kell 7, Cambridge 4 MARIETTA – Brian Moore went 1-for-4 with a home run but it wasn’t enough as the Bears dropped a Region 7-AAAAA, Div. B contest Wednesday on the road. Cambridge (4-8, 4-7) also got a strong performance at the plate from Austin Weiermiller who went 3-for-4. San Clemente 7, Lambert 5 CARY, N.C. – Kyle McCann went 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs but it wasn’t enough as the Longhorns lost in eight innings Wednesday at the National High School Invitational. Nick Guimbarda and Seth Beer each went 3-for-4 for Lambert (8-3), while Bradley Leathers went 2-for-4 with an RBI and Jack Tomevelage drove in another run. A four-run bottom of the third gave Lambert a comfortable 5-1 lead, but San Clemente (Calif.) scrapped back with the help of three errors by the Longhorns. North Forsyth 10, Habersham Central 1 MT. AIRY – Jacob Cherry allowed just two hits in five innings as North cruised to a Region 6-AAAAAA victory Wednesday on the road. Cherry got the win for North (8-5-1, 6-2) allowing no earned runs and striking out five. Brant Stark led North at the plate going 3-for-4. Northview 6, Alpharetta 4 ALPHARETTA – Bryce Jones drove in two runs and the Titans edged the Raiders for a Region 6-AAAAAA victory Wednesday on the road. Thomas Hamill got the win for Northview (9-6, 4-4) while Matthew Pacifico earned the save. Carson Sadler also drove in two runs for the Titans. South Forsyth 9, Centennial 4 Alex Andronica went 2-for-4 with two RBI and the War Eagles got a Region 6-AAAAAA victory Wednesday at home. Justin Graczyk and Jordan McGriff each went 2-for-4 and drove in two runs for South (7-7, 4-4), while Trae Dunn went 1-for-1 with two walks and two RBI. West Forsyth 4, Johns Creek 1 JOHNS CREEK – Derrick Pickvet pitched a complete game to lead the Wolverines to a Region 6-AAAAAA victory Wednesday on the road. Pickvet walked two and allowed just one hit while striking out three for West (6-5, 5-2). Hank Flood led the Wolverines at the plate with three hits, two runs scored and an RBI. Bryar Hawkins and Hampton McConnell each added two hits and an RBI, while Nate Schmitz also drove in a run. BOYS LACROSSE Riverwood 17, Pinecrest Academy 9 ATLANTA – Adam Guard had three goals but it wasn’t enough as the Paladins dropped an Area 3-AAAAA/A game Wednesday on the road. Jack Binkley added two goals for Pinecrest (1-6). GIRLS LACROSSE Harrison 16, Lambert 15 KENNESAW – Peyton Smith had three goals and five draw controls but the Lady Longhorns lost a non-area game Wednesday on the road. It was the second-straight one-goal loss for Lambert (3-4, 1-2 Area 3-AAAAAA). Abby Hollis added three goals, while Ali Wilson had two goals and three assists. Other scores: North Gwinnett 17, South Forsyth 12; Cambridge 20, Pinecrest Academy 0.
