South Forsyth’s Sarah Myers and West Forsyth’s Jenna Staiti were named to the Atlanta Tipoff Club’s Early Season Girls All-Metro Team on Wednesday. The local junior standouts were among 20 players chosen. Both of the University of Maryland verbal commitments are off to strong starts to the season. Myers, a shooting guard, is averaging 21.7 points, six rebounds and 4.1 steals a game for the Lady War Eagles, who are 9-0 overall, 6-0 in Region 6-AAAAAA and ranked No. 3 in Class AAAAAA in the latest MaxPreps Poll. Staiti, a power forward, is averaging 28 points, 14 rebounds and five blocks a game for the Lady Wolverines who are 6-2 overall and 5-1 in Region 6-AAAAAA. Myers and Staiti have received plenty of postseason accolades since their freshmen seasons. They’ve been regulars on all-county teams from the Forsyth County News and Forsyth County Tipoff Club. But their notoriety has increased since last season. Myers was named the FCN’s Girls Basketball Player of the Year, Staiti was selected the Region 6-AAAAAA Player of the Year and both were first-team selections on the Class AAAAAA All-State Team.
