CUMMING — Cumming Mayor H. Ford Gravitt recently proclaimed Nov. 15 as Poppy Day. Joining in the ceremony at Cumming City Hall were members of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 307 and American Legion Post 307. Each year, the auxiliary offers the familiar red crepe poppies to the public and accepts donations. Those funds are used to provide comfort items and assistance to veterans in the VA Nursing Home and Hospital in Decatur, as well as at local facilities. From 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, the groups will offer poppies at the Walmart on Market Place Boulevard, as well as the Chick-fil-A on Atlanta Road.
