FORSYTH COUNTY — A diverse group of businesses was disciplined by the Forsyth County commission for underage alcohol sales Thursday night. During administrative hearings held as part of the regular meeting, commissioners issued several warning letters and three-day suspension of sales to the establishments Under the county’s alcohol ordinance, businesses that sell or serve alcohol to anyone younger than 21 can face a range of punishments, particularly if they have several offenses within a two-year period. The individual employees who sell or serve also face a mandatory $500 fine plus court costs. If a business has three violations within a two-year period, the license holder can face revocation of the license. Thursday, first-time offenders West Forsyth Fuel & Shine on Canton Highway, Golden Palace on Bethelview Road, Publix on McGinnis Ferry Road and Ted’s Montana Grill on Peachtree Parkway all received a warning letter in their file. Circle M Food on Jot Em Down Road and Castleberry Ale House on Bethelview Road both received a three-day suspension of alcohol sales for their second offenses within the two-year period. All of the license holders addressed the board during their respective hearings. All said they are working to improve training efforts with staff to ensure no underage sales happen again.
