CUMMING — Get ready to “rock” and roll at an annual race fundraiser. Leaders of the Forsyth Healthcare Association, a division of the Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce, are planning the fifth annual Boulder Dash 5K/10K, with races beginning at 9 a.m. April 26. The event takes participants on a unique route from Northside Hospital-Forsyth, along Ronald Reagan Boulevard and through a rock quarry owned by Bluegrass Materials Company. According to information from the chamber, the event again provides “an opportunity for business and community organizations to challenge one another to shed a few pounds and get active.” For the first time, the Boulder Dash is offering a 10K to help increase the fitness options. While there may be a new feature, the event still benefits the Forsyth County Parks Foundation, which has a mission to enhance the “recreational, educational and cultural life of Forsyth County by encouraging and soliciting support for the county’s parks system.” The parks foundation works to provide support in the areas of beautification, programs, projects and scholarships. Besides the 5K and 10K events, Boulder Dash will also features its Spring Fling, a festival with food, music and children’s activities, at the close of the race. Boulder Dash has drawn as many as 1,000 walkers and runners in years past and is likely to expand this year with the addition of the 10K. There is still room for businesses or other organizations that would like to serve as sponsors or have a display at the Spring Fling. For information on how to get involved, contact Jason Mock, director of the chamber’s Small Business Services Center, at (770) 887-6461 or jmock@cummingforsythchamber.org.
