Frank Hepler resigned as head football coach at West Forsyth on Monday, according to Wolverines athletic director Brett Phipps. Hepler informed players at a 3:15 p.m., meeting. Hepler started the Wolverines program when the school opened in 2007 and went 49-18 in six varsity seasons. West was coming off a 7-4 season that ended with the program’s fourth straight state playoff appearance, tying a county record. Hepler came to West after 14 seasons at Plantation High School, his alma mater in Plantation, Fla., where he went 135-30. He instantly turned the Wolverines into a playoff fixture culminating in 2011 when West went 11-2 and reached the Class AAAAA quarterfinals.
